Corrales is a village in Sandoval County, New Mexico, United States. The population of Corrales was 8,329 at the 2010 Census. The village was selected as #19 in CNN Money's list of the 100 best places to live in 2007. It is located along the Rio Grande river and is built on the site of two Indian Pueblos settled before AD 500 by the Tiguex Indians, and which were later occupied by Spanish Colonists and explorers who colonized the region around 1540. Until 2005, portions of the village were located in both Bernalillo and Sandoval counties. In 2005, a special election annexed the portion of CorRALes located in Bernalillos County to Sandoval county, so that now the entire village is located inSandoval County. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 11.2 square miles (29 km²), of which 10.7 sq miles (28 km²) is land and 0.5sq miles (1.3km²) (4.71%) is water. In the village, the population was spread out, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 34.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% from 65 and older. The median income for the village was $33.5, about $533 per capita.

History

The village of Corrales is located along the Rio Grande. It is built on the site of two Indian Pueblos settled before AD 500 by the Tiguex Indians. It was selected as #19 in CNN Money's list of the 100 best places to live in 2007. The current Village of CorRALes government was incorporated and chartered in 1971. The Spanish Colonists and explorers who colonized the region around 1540 built an adobe church on the area. The Church of San Ysidro was named after the annual fiesta de San Y Sidro in May. The land comprising the Village ofCorrales was parceled off and sold for agricultural development and livestock ranching. The village was incorporated in 1971 and is now home to a community of about 2,000 people. It has a population of about 1,500. The Village of corrales has been named one of the best places in the world to live by CNN Money in 2007 and again in 2009. The town is located on the banks of the Colorado River, which runs through the center of the city of Albuquerque. The city is home to the University of New Mexico, which was founded in 1868. The University of California, San Diego is located in the city's downtown area and has a campus of the College of Arts and Sciences, which opened in 1877. The City of San Diego was founded by the Spanish in 1540 and was known as the "City of San Pedro".

Geography

The village is part of the San Diego-Laredo Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes the cities of Laredo, San Diego, and El Paso. The city of San Diego is the largest city in the state, with a population of more than 100,000. The town's population is about 8,000, according to the United States Census Bureau. It is the only town in the county to have a post office, which was established in 1881. It was the first post office in San Diego County, and the first in the State of New Mexico. It opened in 1883. It has been the site of the town's main post office since 1881, when it was founded. The current post office was established on July 1, 1883, and is located on the corner of Interstate 10 and Interstate 25.

It is located on the New Mexico Turnpike, which runs through the town of Corrales. The town is home to the Albuquerque International Airport, which is a major international hub for air and sea travel. The city is also the site of the U.S. Air Force's second-busiest hub, with more than 2,000 flights a day. The village has a population of 7,000, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in New Mexico.

Village infrastructure
