Josephine is located in southeastern Collin County at 33°0340N 96°1848W (33.061018, 96.313227) It is 24 miles (39 km) northeast of Garland and 14 miles (23 km) southwest of Greenville. According to the United States Census Bureau, Josephine has a total area of 5.0 km² (1.9 sq mi) of which 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²) are land and 0.2 sq mi (0.08 sq km) is covered by water. Its population was 812 at the 2010 census, with 755 residents inCollin County and 57 in Hunt County. By 2020, its population increased to 2,119, with 563 households, and 398 families residing in the city. In 2000, the racial makeup of the city was 92.93% White, 1.18% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0,51% Pacific Islander, 4.21% from other races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 10.61% of the population. The median income in 2000 was $34,750. In 2020, the median income was $41,250. The per capita income for the city in 2020 was $15,879. Josephine has a total area of 5.0 km² (1.9 sq mi), of which 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²) are land and 0.2 km² is covered by water. The town has a population of 1,071. It is located on the banks of the Brazos River, a tributary of the San Antonio River. The city's population was 1,081 at the 2010 U.S. Census, and 1,094 at the 2011 Census. It has a latitude of 33.3°N and a longitude of 96.4°W. It lies on the Texas Turnpike, which runs through Collin and Hunt counties. It also has a small portion of the Texas-Louisiana state line, at 33.0°S and 96.8°S. The population of Josephine is 1,061, according to the U.N. Census Bureau, and it has a land area of 1.8 sq mi (5.0 sq km) Josephine was the site of the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in 1864. The Battle was the first recorded battle between the United States and the Soviet Union.
