Wapello Township is a township in Louisa County, Iowa. Wapello was organized in 1841. It is located on the Iowa-Illinois border. It was named after the Wapellos, a family of the same name, who lived in the area. The township is home to the University of Iowa's football team, the Iowa Cornhuskers. It also has the Iowa State Fair, which is held every year in Wapella. The town is also known for its apple orchards, which date back to the 17th century. It has a population of 1,856. It's located in the eastern part of the county, just south of the town of Dubuque. The Wapelli River runs through the town, which was named for the town's first inhabitants, the Wapilos, who first settled in the region in the 1770s and 1780s. In 1841, the township was organized. It became a township on November 1, 1841 and was named in honor of the Wappilos. The first post office opened on November 2, 1842. It closed on November 3, 1843. It received its first postcard on November 4, 1844. The last postcard was sent on November 5, 1845. The current post office was established on November 6, 1846. It remains in the same location. It had a post office until the end of the 19th century, when it was moved to a new location.

History

Wapello Township was organized in 1841. It was named after the Wapello River, which runs through the town. The town has a population of about 2,000. It is located in the eastern part of the state of New Jersey, near the town of Piedmont. The township was once a part of New York City, but is now largely uninhabited. It has a total population of 2,200, with about 1,000 residents. The population was 3,000 in 1842. It became a township in 1843. It's now a city. The city's population is about 1.5,000, with the majority of its residents living in the town's central area. The community has a history of being poor, especially in the early years of the township's existence. It also has a high percentage of people of Italian descent, especially Italian-American descent. In 1841, the township was named for the town’s founder, who was of Italian heritage. The current mayor is a native of the town, and his family has lived in the area since the 1800s.
